Community House on Broadway — Longview, Washington
Community House on Broadway offers 170 single beds between two facilities. The day we delivered 18 pairs of new children's sheets and some darling comforters, I was able to see the classroom where kindergarteners were distance learning in Zoom classes with the help of volunteers.
The case workers were thrilled to see all the cheerful new sheets from all of you.
Julie Rinard (CFRE), the Community Relations Director, was full of gratitude and spent a lot of time explaining the different programs offered at Community House. Her reception could not have been more gracious, and your gifts of new sheets were accepted with joy.
Last year, Community House served over 582 unique individuals — 30% were children — and 71% of residents exited to stable housing. Behind those numbers are real kids, doing their schoolwork on Zoom in a shelter, who got to sleep under something bright and new that night.
