A Simple Idea, A Growing Mission

In 2018, during a road trip across the United States, we were struck by the extent of homelessness we encountered in communities large and small. Seeing how widespread the need had become led us to ask a simple question: How could we help?

We knew we could not solve every challenge facing people experiencing hardship, but we believed we could respond in a practical way. That belief led to a simple idea: providing brand new bed linens to transitional housing organizations supporting individuals and families moving toward stability.

Over time, we came to understand that bed linens are more than a basic necessity. They are deeply personal. A thoughtfully prepared bed can offer comfort, rest, and reassurance during difficult moments. It can also be a quiet expression of care when it is needed most. For the people working in shelters and transitional programs, fresh linens also make it possible to offer something welcoming, thoughtful, and unexpectedly special.

Over the years, we have had the privilege of meeting extraordinary program leaders, staff, volunteers, and residents whose care for others inspires us every day. The Linen Closet remains committed to supporting the important work happening in communities across the country in the way we know best.
